Buzz of Rittman

On any given day on what could arguably be called the highest point in the city of Rittman, you can find several unusual guest.
Atop the city water tower a group of “buzzards” often roost.

While most folks call these birds buzzards, they are actually turkey vultures. I you are thinking these might be great on the table in November, the turkey vulture is protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, and it is illegal to kill this species in the United States!

One local resident said he has seen over 40 of these birds on the tower at one time.
“We have more than Hinkley” he said!

I doubt they will replace the a butterball anytime soon!

Enjoy the day!
