This past week the the Rittman fire department celebrated 100 years of service. As part of the celebration all members of the department both past and present got together for a meal on Friday night. The men and women in this picture represent the history of this community.
Volunteer's in nature, the members of this department and others like it, drop what they are doing at the sound of the “tones” and rush to help people that they have never met before. They do this day after day and go hardly noticed.
It was my pleasure to capture this image that will soon hang on the firehouse wall. Perhaps some of the younger members will return someday with their children or grandchildren and say “thats me right there”. I suspect the children will be proud. They should be.
