Bottled water…Wayne County Style.

DAY 2.
For as long as I can remember water has been gushing from the artesian well located at the intersection of Hutton and Geyers Chapel road
near Smithville Ohio. Seldom will you visit the well and not find people filling their water containers from this free flowing spring.

Free flowing is no exaggeration, there is literally no shutoff valve and the water flows non stop 24 hours a day 365 days a year. I have visited this well many times when the temperature is well below zero and the water will be flowing just like you see in the photo. It just never stops.

Today’s photo shows Orrville resident Tim Urang filling his gallon jugs while on his lunch break from work. Tim said that his water at home was “not the best” and indicated that he had been obtaining water from this well for many years.

The water is clean and cold and it takes just seconds to fill a gallon container.
Yes kids, you can get water without going to the store!

  1. What is the PH of that well Doug? I drank it all the time growing up in Wayne County. I know people who came from a long way to "fill up their jug" there outside of Smithville.? Is that right?

  2. I Love thesae shots of Wayne County, keep up the good work. My license plate frame reads: AMISH MOTORS, on the top and WOOSTER, OHIO on the bottom. Several weeks ago in the McDonalds driveup the lady behind me honked and yelled "I Love your Wayne County Fair" and last week someone honked at a red light and yelled "I Love Wooster" and gave me a thumbs up. Not Bad considering that this all happened in the LaHabra/Whittier CA area.
